Do you provide Medical Insurance coverage in Kenya and South Africa?

Do you provide Medical Insurance coverage in Kenya and South Africa

Question:
Hello

I am interested in care plans for Kenya and South Africa, for basic medical care with no pre-existing conditions.
HOwever, I also read about your Emergency Evacuation plan – how do I know if I will require this?

Answer:

Pacific Prime can provide comprehensive expatriate medical insurance options to foreign nationals in both Kenya and South Africa. A single
expatriate health insurance policy will cover you in both countries in addition
to affording global coverage. This means that you are able to have
comprehensive protection in Kenya, South Africa or elsewhere around the world
without having to obtain a new policy each time you visit a different country.

In many cases the Kenya Health Insurance and South Africa Health insurance options we work with are actually portable back to your home
country. This means that you can avoid the stress of having to obtain new
insurance coverage when you relocate to new locations. Additionally, these
policies will often be guaranteed renewable for life, meaning that you are able
to hold onto your international health insurance coverage as long as you need
it.

We generally recommend that any expatriate health insurance
plan include Emergency Evacuation coverage, regardless of the location you
intend to travel to. However, if you will be staying in Africa for an extended
period of time you should consider Emergency Evacuation coverage as an
essential plan benefit.

An Emergency Evacuation coverage benefit on an international health insurance plan will ensure that, in the event that there are no medical
facilities in your location able to provide an appropriate standard of care,
you will be transported to the nearest center of medical excellence to receive
continuing healthcare treatment.

This is important in countries such as South Africa and
Kenya as high quality medical facilities, such as clinics and hospitals, are
rarely found outside those countries’ major cities. If you intend to visit the
rural areas of either Kenya or South Africa, depending on where you visit, and
you suffer from a serious accident or illness, in many cases the nearest
available medical facility may be hours away and may still not be able to
provide an appropriate standard of care. In that instance you would need an
evacuation to a secondary medical facility which is able to provide the appropriate
treatment.

This is not to say that a country like South Africa cannot
provide high quality healthcare options; South Africa has the best equipped and
most competently staffed medical system on the African continent. However, you
never want to be in a situation where you would potentially be unable to access
immediate treatment for life threatening medical conditions, which is why an
Emergency Evacuation insurance coverage benefit is so important.
